Companies generally don't publicly discuss specific terms for beta testing, but having conducted beta testing for technical product development professionally a number of times in my career, and for a number of other companies in other disciplines in the past (I'm also presently a Capture One beta-tester), the requirements for evaluating these development cables were fully consistent with industry-standard best-practices for product development beta-testing.

Part of my evaluation was based on conducting a formal and professional-level competitive benchmarking (again, something that I've done professionally in my career). To do this, I rented in, and also purchased, at my own expense, other cables from other manufacturers for this evaluation.

The development cables will be returned to Shunyata Research. I plan on purchasing my own set of Shunyata's Ethernet cable(s), and all of my recent purchases of Shunyata Research products (my Alpha USB, Venom ICs and power cables) were purchased from Shunyata Research's established retailers (including Ivan).

Shunyata Research consistently makes, in my experience, really excellent products. I am happy to purchase them at retail prices from their dealers as they provide superb value for money within their respective price classes. I feel the same about the Fujifilm mirrorless cameras I purchase & use for my professional photography business, no difference.
