Based on our research, Dilettante, I would agree with you. The problem, however, is that many owners of the Oppo 205 are asking heavenly sums for these players: and that's for used 205s. My research is telling me that the Oppo UDP-205 cost $1,299 during its sales peak. The folks on the used market are selling these things for three- to four-times that amount. I don't know about you, my friend, but I can't do that.
