I suggest solid mahogany.
Probably this comes from my business background (having custom built solid mahogany furniture in my office), but I have found it to be very stable, strong, and - if it is finished without stain - scratches do not show, or can be very easily fixed. I have a seven foot credenza behind my desk with MC255s(4), MC2205, MS750, Men220, MX118, as well as computer, printer, and several hard drives. With adjustable height shelving, it is VERY flexible when something changes in your system.
Plus - to me nothing says "old money" more than solid hardwood furniture - plywood, no matter how finished or trimmed, just does not have the same panache.
