So true and there are so many more brands now. Stereophile covers a few brands very well and I really like their measurements section, it adds some credibility to the overall review. TAS tries to cover as much gear as possible but with much less detail. Kind of gourmet vs. gourmand, I guess. I find both magazines useful to navigate through a sea of componentry but I don't base any buying decisions on what they write, only my own ears.
