Your mileage may vary but while I do measure my room(s), I set my speakers and listening position with my ears and start with fixing the listening position first - start with an equilateral triangle or as close as your room will allow. Assume your speakers WILL NOTend up against the walls. Nor should you start with your listening position against a wall! The space you have will dictate all this. That is the rough placement.

Then following the instructions posted here for the Sumiko Masters Set process, fix the left speaker in place and the finally the right speaker. Do this with as little furnishings as possible in the room and no room treatments. You have to remove as many variables as possible/reasonable. You can't control them all but you can control your listening position.

Measuring before and after may teach you something but let your ears dictate final placement.
