It is a piston from an Alco Locomotive, '244' prime mover..........anyways the first phase was to machine the top of the piston to create the dish of the ash tray and the two 'cigar cradles' on either side. The following steps will be to incorporate wrist pin, connecting rod and a few piston rings. The tentative plan for my base is an old brake wheel from a freight car. When complete this beast will weigh in the neighborhood of 145 lbs !! The wind shouldn't blow it off my deck !

After you finish the ash tray are you going shooting? I saw the boxes of Remington and Winchester shells next to the piston.
