That is what I use also under my components. Didn't do before/after comparisons; I just installed them but was too lazy to remove everything right after. I think I will give it a try now that I am used to the sound with them under. They do not look as bad as I initially believed they would.
Edit:
I noticed that after having inserted them in my sound system last summer that the AC guys who installed my AC unit 3 years ago did install the same ones!
