Jerry, congrats on your new Sooloos system.
As for question number 1, I would guess the CD was a HDCD. When db poweramp rips HDCDs to FLAC it uses the HDCD encoding to create a 24 bit 44.1kHz FLAC file from the CD. Sooloos lists any 24 bit files as high res.
For question number 2, all the metadata is Sooloos proprietary and will only work on a Sooloos system. A Sooloos backup will keep all the metadata but it will only work with your Sooloos. You can do an "export" backup which will give you your music files in a backup that can be used with other systems but this backup will only have artist and song/album titles for metadata.
