McIntosh recommended using my MCD201's headphone amp over the C46 pre. (So the loudness of my C46, may not be a better sq) both are a bad match either way.
(Gain was set at 100%) I am safely guessing the LCD-3's don't match well with other McIntosh gear, or it would have been suggested by McIntosh to buy X, instead of having me reach outside the McIntosh box, to another company.
