Gaining Momentum
After nearly 3 months of waiting, the new D’Agostino Momentum S250 stereo amp finally arrived at the dealer in Seattle last week. Since I wasn’t available to take delivery right away, they set it up in a showroom and ran it to get a head start on burnin. Yesterday my dealer made the 2 hour drive to my house to deliver and set up. I had been wondering how we were going to get a 100 lb amp into my rack, but I failed to realize that Hans pumps iron - he lifted it right out of the case and slid it into the rack no problem.
It was definitely worth the wait. The amp looks gorgeous, and sounded wonderful with only a few minutes of warmup. Compared to my Linn amp, the bass is much tighter and more authoritative and solid, the highs are much smoother, imaging is a bit more precise, and the slight congestion I used to get on orchestral music at louder volumes is gone.
Although technically I have this beauty on trial for a few days, I’ve already made up my mind it’s not going back.
