I would be interested to hear if the popularity of the E800 is based on actual auditions or something else.
I have heard the E800 in comparison to the E650 and it is a clear step up that is reflected in the higher costs. I have not had a chance to compare the E800 to an Accuphase pre/poweramp combination that would be at a similar/slightly higher price level. The issue then is also that you need an extra mains cable, interconnect, rack shelf for good isolation that adds tremendous costs. So I can also see the great advantage with the E800 that you get unprecedented enjoyment from an integrated amp allowing you to keep things simple.
