What is not there? How do you know the difference is not there? How do you measure 'sound' traveling thru a piece of equipment or wire? You can measure various components that in the end result in a transducer making sound, but you cannot actually measure the sound as it interacts our ears/brains, which are all different. At least no one has implanted electrodes into the brains of any listeners to test gear that I'm aware of (though it would be great if we could convince several of the various 'well-known' reviewers to do so  ).
