Hi Mouse - All else being equal, halving the frequency quadruples the distance the woofer has to travel to create the same SPL. So going from 20 Hz to 10 Hz causes the displacement to increase 4x!

A 12" woofer will move about 1.5" one way, 3" peak to peak to make 105 dB at 20 Hz in a medium sized room. This is the limit of what most conventional subs can do. If you drop the frequency to 10 Hz, you get a one way excursion of 6"! Unless you go to an unconventional motorized sub (Seaton) you just can't get there.

Drop the level to about 90 dB and a normal sub can do it.
