I experienced volume change once. I concluded that someone had played around with the sub settings.
A way to troubleshoot: Have you tried using a test signal and calibrate both subs to have the same volume (say, 72db?). Once you do, see if the volume knob of each sub look to be at the same level. That would be a start.
