Never missed the lack of remote with any preamp. Listening to vinyl? You're getting up anyways.
Listening to CD? Get a CDP with variable volume control and have your remote. Preferably a tube CDP.
Both my tube CDPs have a remote, variable output as well as digital inputs for other sources, also variable volume control.
