Within JRiver, go to Tools->Options->Audio.
"Play silence at startup for hardware synchronization:" set to 1/4 second (1/2 if you believe the delay is closer to 1/2).
Under Track Change, UNcheck "do not play silence."
See if that helps in any fashion.
