Many McIntosh remote controls had a rubbery type coating that made them easy to grip. Unfortunately as time passed many of these coatings began to soften and get sticky. Yuk! The coating can be removed from the remotes by disassembly and aggressive scrubbing the case parts with isopropyl alcohol. I cleaned up my MR88 remote like that and it is now clean smooth plastic. Knowing that there is now a reasonably priced replacement remote control for such a wide variety of McIntosh components is good news. I may buy a couple just to keep in case I have future issues with my C2300, C1000, or MX120 remotes.
