I used a monitor to rip CDs, which I think is virtually mandatory. I split 50-50% between using the monitor or my iPhone to control playback. I loaded a JRiver app on the iPhone and it finds the Silenzio via wireless. For that use I just power off the monitor. Sometimes I want the bigger screen of the monitor and sometimes my accursed wifi goes down and I have to use the key board/monitor to control playback. I do think that an iPad would be ideal, but I do not own one.
