IME, if similar construction and materials are applied (usually one to two levels up/down the line) ~ only different wire gauge, it is fine - sound improvements can be gained by using better jumpers. On the other hand when using one that is too far off in-between levels where geometry, materials, sheathing etc.are different (even of same brand) then there may be cases of imbalance and lack coherency in resultant sound.
