Taking a dB reading at each test frequency is tedious. If you are spending $220 on a sound pressure meter, why not download for free, REW from Hometheater dot com, buy a UMIK usb microphone and do real room measurements. Your will get MUCH more than frequency sweeps.

The radio shack meter would suffice. Return the meter you ordered and use those funds to purchase the UMIK and Radio Shack meter... then buy yourself your beverage of choice, reserve a weekend and develop very knowledge of your system/Room Acoustics.

It can be a rabbit hole however if you are wound a little tight and have to have all the answers.
