Its, IMHO, amazing...takes a few episodes to get into it, just a like a good book does. Based on the Longmire mystery novels by Craig Johnson. While it is filmed in New Mexico, it is set in the fictional town of Durant, Wyoming. Walt Longmire is the sheriff of Absaroka County, a fictional county in Wyoming named after the Absaroka mountain range. Very rich character development and a lot of cultural themes around native Americans. And the cinematography is exceptional. The supporting cast of Katee Sackhoff as "Vic", Bailey Chase as Branch Connelly, Adam Bartley as "The Ferg", his deputies, Lou Diamond Philips as Walt's childhood friend, Henry Standing Bear, Cassidy Freeman as Cady, his attorney daughter, A Martinez as Jacob Nighthorse, and Zahn McClarnon as Matthias, the "sheriff" for the "Res" contrbute a LOT to the very rich character development in this series. I love all these characters...

Just as a teaser, Walt, the sheriff, finds out in the first episode that his deputy, Branch Connelly, is running against him in an upcoming county election. It just gets better from there....
