Congratulations on your purchase lordemsworth, these are some fine speakers!
I have their smaller brother - the 1028Be and I'm very satisfied with them.
It's interesting to hear what you mentioned about the bass, I guess it really depends on the room and posisioning of the speakers. With the 1028 I am actually considering to add a subwoofer (probably JL Fantom 112) to fill in the lower octave.
