I have 7 of the MC602's and they are great. I had a pair of the MC601's and sold them. I think the sound difference is personal preference. If you have been a tube guy and migrated to solid state from tubes, you will probably prefer the MC602. If you have been solid state all along, you will probably prefer to get a set of the MC601's. I feel like McIntosh is designing its newer amps to compete with the other High End Solid State amps on the market. That seems to be true with their preamps as well. I have a C500T running into my MC602's and can't imagine anything better will come along. Maybe different, but unlikely better. Best of luck with finding an MC602. Once you get one, I doubt you will ever want to sell it.
