I did also hear the E-480, but not with the Esoteric source, on Scala Utopia v2 speakers.
So, I listened actually to everything up to the small separate combo.
The E-480 is AB and the E-650 is A.
Similar to the P-4200 (or P-4500) that are AB, while the A-47 is class A, I would proposing the following, a little risky, comparison with classical guitars that have either a spruce (epicea) or cedar table.
The spruce (E-480 or P-4200) is faster, more transparent, more powerful and clear.
The cedar (E-650 or A-47) is more round, slower, with nicer colors.
Both have their advantages and problems.
That's a long and ongoing debate.
It depends on the music you hear and the system you have.
Like with the guitars, the best would be to have both...
