I couldn't help myself...I took the Mrs. down to the district where the local Aerial Acoustics dealer is located and we walked through the area, checking out the hipster shops, high end boutiques, retro furniture stores, had some yummy bento and home made ice cream, then walked into two highly regarded record shops. Why? I don't know...I don't have a TT.

The wife wanted to see if she could find a copy of Rick Wakeman's "Journey To The Center of The Earth" in vinyl. Why? No tellin' why...just one of those weird wimmen moments I guess.

But about 15 minutes later, after a search of the store, we found one! $3 later and we were out the door. Since we were headed in the direction of the Aerial dealers' store, I told her I knew just the place to get it cleaned and play a bit from it.

I know...I know...sneaky of me. And I was wearing one of my McIntosh T-shirts to boot. THAT caught the attention of Bill, the store manager, when we walked in.

So Bill introduced the wife to the 7T's and some of the gear in their room. While he was cleaning her record (a good wash and vacuum - never saw that rig before) he asked her what kind of music she liked, when she listened, etc...

I pointed out the 7T's and said how much I wanted to hear them (again, silently in my mind) and Bill obliged with an eclectic mix of music:

1. Louis Armstrong and The All Stars - St. James Infirmary (1947)

2. Lisa Batiasvili plays Brahms Violin Concerto

3. Jennifer Warnes with Rob Wasserman's "Ballad of a Runaway Horse"

4. Then he played the record we brought, track 2 called "Recollection". We actually got a decent pressing, in good condition, with good definition and a very wide soundfield.

5. Next up was Dire Straits and "Down To The Waterline" and I commented how well the 7T's carried the bass line in that song, especially the introductory fog horns of the passing ships in the first 30 seconds of the song.

6. Lastly Bill demonstrated the 7T's bass capabilities by digging out a track that most have not heard of called "Illegal Bass" by the Bass Outlaws. It's all about testing subwoofers I suppose but none were operating in the room with the system he was using to demo to 7T's. Even so, I found the bass focus point to the left of the speakers in a corner of the room and stood there, feeling the pulses coming from those speakers. It was amazing.

However, all this time, the Mrs. was sitting in her chair, in front of the speakers, with her eyes closed. When the music stopped, she looked at me with a smile on her face.

I think I have permission now to purchase them if I can swing the money. oh please oh please oh please oh please...
