My room is 22.5 X 14.5 X 8 and I had no problems with the speakers in the room. I had the speakers about 3 feet out from the front wall and 1.5 feet from the side walls. The speakers where towed in to form a equilateral triangle so that the sweet spot seat was just inside of the corner of that equilateral triangle.
If you would stand up or recline the chair flat there would be some roll off as Ivan said. I tweaked the speakers around for about six months and found this to be the optimal set up for my room. Great sound staging and the bass just the way I liked it.
