For actual use. best if the LPs are not tight. Loose enough to pull one out and the ones next to it don't 'close up'. ON the other side of too loose is the LPs always flop to one side. there is a just right loose vs tight where the LPs stand up straight, but one is easy to remove... One way to get this is make the foot long, two foot long row tight, then remove three LPs. Just right.
Shelving which is three feet long is just too long without a divider. The records will flop no matter what you do, other than really tight.
