Default First time at the Cape

This past week I was in Boston for a meeting and at the time of booking the meeting, I reached out to Ivan to see if he was going to be in town. He had previously invited me to visit him anytime. I was in luck as he was going to be there at the same time. He kindly rearranged his calander and I showed up at his house around 11am. I was a little worried about taking up too much of his time, but he quickly assuaged my concerns and set aside the entire day. His and Donna’s hospitality was unbelieveable. She is a saint to put up with strangers showing up to her house to demo equipment the way she does. I am not sure my wife would be so accommodating.

Ivan took me through the paces and spent time listening with me to his various systems, much of which has been written about here. He is an absolute perfectionist with his set ups. The behind the scenes tour is fascinating, to say the least. I took several lessons home after my day with Ivan.

I need room treatments. Desperately.
The TAD speakers are on my list. I need to save a wheel barrow of cash.
My wire management is very good. His is out of this world.
I don’t watch much TV (okay, I watch essentially no TV) but I think it’s time to upgrade my home theater. If my system was 1/4 as good as his, I would spend some time watching movies with the wife. The sound in his home theater left my jaw in my lap. By the way, his theater chairs are killer. Not sure of the brand.
He has more tools than the local Snap On distributor. And probably more organized. And everywhere. I think there may have been a tool chest in the bathroom?
His use of space left me speechless. And feeling perhaps inadequate? I should make an appointment with a therapist to work out my issues.

The time absolutely flew by, and before I knew it 6 pm had rolled around. His daughter, grand son and son-in-law were flying in that evening, and yet it was Ivan that wanted to keep listening. I had to pull myself away, but the memory of his systems haunts me. In a good way. Hopefully, I have not worn out my welcome. I would love to go back. Maybe with my wife. Maybe not with her, but back I’d like to go. Maybe with a suitcase to watch a few movies and spend a week or three.

Thank you Ivan. It really was a privilege and enlightening. Thanks for answering all my questions, which were legion. Thanks for the patience. Thanks for the pointers. Thanks for the friendship.
