David, There are threads on Ethernet cables / switches / ‘filters’ etc on a number of forums that say otherwise. My own experience with a Gigafoil v4 Ethernet filter and a 0.5 meter Revelation Audio Ethernet cable very clearly demonstrated to me they do matter.

Most of the improvements are reported to come from the reduction of any electrical noise in a copper Ethernet cable. That is achieved by using better power supplies and or inserting fiber optic sections.

The SoTM switch with an external clock input costs upwards of $1900. That’s a pretty big chunk of change.

The AQVox switch is I think, more like $800. The Gigafoil v4 is around $570. The external power supplies being used cost anywhere from $300 to $800.

Then, the Ethernet cables (seems you only need a short high end cable of say 0.5 meters) can cost upwards of $1,000.

So while I believe there is something to be gained as I have heard it in my system, I have not jumped in yet.
