SCAudiophile, thanks for the SACD history lesson. I was not aware of that. Result sounds somewhat similar to what happened to my mid-90s Proceed CD player after some newer CD releases started coming out with 'watermarks'.... or something (?) that made my player respond with nothing but a dumb look.
