The ZeroZone digital LPS (I haven't researched the regular one that's cheaper) uses Japanese capacitors and is in any case better designed in one major aspect - as you noted, it has a huge aluminum heatspreader to handle heat unlike the Oppomod. As I said earlier, the only thing that I can think of is another party wanting a cut - the ZeroZone is not only as good as the OppoMod, but arguably better. I couldn't find any reason to justify the price differential and so I bought the ZeroZone, which has been amazing in terms of video and digital audio improvement over the OEM SPS.
