I found your description of the PL 500 very accurate and it mirrors what I heard.
The 500 has an authoritative sound in my vieuw, also due to the three-dimensional nature of the speaker, which I liked very much from the beginning I heard them at the dealer's showroom.
For that reason I am considering only the PL500 from the speakers I heard at this moment and I heard a lot, more or less all the big names we all know.
One of the very few I want to hear yet is the new Yamaha NS5000, which received very positive remarks, no revieuw published yet as far as I know.
