My system is located in a shared room, also with wood floors. I use the gliders provided by Sonus under the speaker spikes. I've discretely outlined the two back gliders on the wood floor in pencil (not visible when the speakers are positioned over them). I've pointed out the marks to my wife, and if she needs to move the speakers to clean or rearrange her plants it's no problem: sometimes she remembers to replace them, but if not it's easy enough for me to get them back in the right spot. As Dan points out, it's about mutual respect, but when it's a shared space it's also about compromise.
