Actually the AB mode is designed to allow the Plinius to be left on all the time. Switch to A for listening and if there's no signal for a preset time, it switches back to AB to save power.
Pretty neat. But the power bill in Australia is crazy so I don't leave it on.
In summer down under now, so even switching to Class A in the study can turn the room into a sauna
