I belong to the school of your hi end audio is only as good as the source you are playing and you degrade down the chain from there. I'm not surprised the link between pre and amp made a difference for you more so than speaker cables. There's too many differences in cable design and end result properties (resistance capacitance) and too many differences between component operating ranges (slew rate, damping factor, input impedance, output impedance) so what is the best cable between components down the chain becomes a quest. I believe TA measures their cables for consistent properties for quality control. As you get into their upper reference lines the measurements may become specific for the gear they are going to connect. Plus the materials they use to reach the tighter tolerances are more expensive. This escalates the prices as you "upgrade:
