Rumors and take them for what they are worth indicated that one or maybe the reason that Dan was forced out at Krell was he was unable to bring new product in at the targeted market pricing. If Krell was trying to compete with the likes of McIntosh, PASS, etc then his 400 WPC amp couldn't list for twice the price of the competition.
Maybe that is why the newer products are coming in at lower price points.
