This is very much like doing product photography where the "product" is a very large living room, kitchen, family room, etc. One of the challenges we face is that we have to shoot, light, edit and deliver images of this quality, generally by the next day.
This shot was comprised of four layers masks: two ambient light exposures, and two flash exposures, blended and masked in Photoshop. One of the things to is to strip out the color contamination so that the colors are crisp and clean.

I have no idea what all of those steps mean, but have to say you did a great job! Beautiful picture.
