The r105/3 had an unforgiving tweeter and I ended up with a kav 300il driving the top with a b&k 4420 and kube full tilt for the bass, but they could play uncompressed, imaged as good as any and probably the best built cabinets I’ve seen in that era. If I consider inflation on a personal level they would list for $7k today. I kept them for 10 years after buying the beethovens because those babys could rock!....114 dB peaks really make drum solos. I abused them for 25 years!
My recent quest was to find a full range speaker that was voiced like the va’s but could play fast and loud like the kefs when the music demands. The big ushers came close, the big M nails it.
