I’ve overlooked Mary Lou Williams over the years.
She was a very talented stride pianist.

Bird (Charlie Parker) was just a teenager cutting his music teeth and hanging out in the alleys, behind the Jazz nightclubs of 12th Street in Kansas City, Missouri where Count Basie, Lester Young, Mary Lou Williams and other jazz legends engaged in marathon jam sessions regularly. Mary Lou Williams had a long and productive career in music.
