I switched to 6F6 metal tubes in the Inspire Firebottle last night. The midrange was really nice with extended highs but again, not much bass with the LS 3/5a's. Solo classical guitar was jaw-dropping good with these tubes but anything else sounded a bit anemic. Tonight I will either go back to the 6CA7's or the 6550's that came with the amp.

Bombadil, the 6f6 tubes are just not a good match for the LS3/5a's. The 6550's are much better in this setup with 5AR4 rectifier. Better balance, more bass. For what I listen to, this combination is really good. I may took to the KT88 or KT150 in the future.
