Rumors have it his father, who has provided F1sponsorship money in the past (with Lotus & Ferrari) & who isn't brash about keeping his nearly $3B net worth a secret, has spent between $40 and $80M to secure his sons spot with Williams. Behind every up & coming Formula 1 driver, there is someone willing to provide some financial backing. It just so happens Lance comes from a family with crater deep pockets.
Two things though & you probably agree, he is talented and considering his past accomplishments in single seaters he was ripe for a seat. Secondly, you can be as rich as heck but a FIA Super License isn't for sale.
