This is what the Boulder website says.

But the most innovative aspect of the 1021 Disc Player is that in order to
make music it doesn’t need a disc at all: When connected to a computer
network, the 1021 can decode and play digital music files streamed from
a media server or computer anywhere in the home—with absolutely no
loss of realism. FLAC, WAV, MP3, ALAC, OGG, AIFF, it’s all covered. Ultra-high
resolution music file playback up to 32-bits or 192 kHz from either a
disc or streaming is simply icing on the cake.

The odd part is that nowhere in the units comprehensive owners manual that you can see online does it discuss this capability. You woul probably have to contact Boulder directly to get the latest scoop.

My dealer had recently taken one of these in trade and I thought about giving it a try until I went thru the manual and could find no info on connecting to a attached device for playing stored music.
