Pops and ticks are inherent in vinyl playback, imo. That said, even a beginner can detect a smoothness/richness that is unique to that format.
My ear can immediately detect if Im listening to vinyl or streaming.
When i ripped my collection, i only followed basic settings to ensure I wasn't compressing. Wonder if i missed something
