I don't like the way newer subs work. The new balanced force subs are digital subs. All incoming signal, be it balanced or single ended, is digitized via 24bit adc. The dsp normalizses the signal and then some 24bit dac(unknown) converts it back to analog.
Earlier version of the jl audio subs used a single analog filter to normalize the signal and kept in the analog domain. Fathom v2 are digital subs too now.
Marketting is better when you have so many bands of parametric eq which the digital processing can give you.
