Yep, give the speakers some room to breathe from nearby boundaries, treat the reflection points along the walls, floor and ceiling and "watch" the soundstage grow and blossom. Positioning speakers is often a tedious job of moving them around and tweaking them out sometimes 1/8 of an inch at a time but when everything comes together and snaps into focus, it is well worth the efforts.
