Sorry to hear that. That’ll certainly sour you on them. I’ve had pretty good luck with ETA. One watch in particular has an ETA/Valjoux 7750 that consistently runs better than +8 seconds a day. While +/-8 seconds per day is good, it’s not great for a daily wear watch, at least not for me. I don’t want to set a watch every day or two. I’ll wear it on occasion, but I’ll always go back to my Rolex Submariner or my Sea-Dweller as a daily watch. Both are COSC certified and the Sub is astonishingly accurate - it doesn’t gain/lose even a second over a months time!
Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. I just think ETA is a descent value - as long as you’re not paying over $1500-$2000 for an ETA-based watch.
