Bart, I totally agree and very interested in achieving the sound I'm looking for, but with minimal equipment in rack..
Jim, thanks. I've been interested in Dagostino equipment, but having never heard them, wondering if they would provide the sound I'm looking for. I've read all the great reviews but heard they can be somewhat on the warm side. I'm looking for more detail, openness, extended on higher frequencies that I'm not getting from the Ayre KX-5/VX-5 and Amati Futura combo. So I would be interested in this, but really like the idea of tone controls on my next pre so I can tweak the highs if lacking.
Looking at Dagostino, Devialet 800's and Burmester 911/088, but haven't heard any of these yet. Wish I could have made it to CES this week.
