Congradulations. When I saw the title of the thread, my first thought was to the Rega I bought and nearly immediately started looking to upgrade to... which I did to a VPI Aries. So, good choice. I would have characterized myself as prone to upgrade as well.
Since your journey sounds a bit like mine. I have gone through many phono stages... and been disappointed a lot I am at the AR PH8 now, but realize my turntable still has more to give, but is being held back by my phono stage. It is amazing, but the phono stage is really, really really really really important. That's my 2 cents.
