I think the Hateful Eight was the last attempt at roadshow exhibition. Tarantino shot in anamorphic 70mm and released in about 100 theaters that were provided with the projection equipment. In its roadshow format it had overture, entr'acte, and exit music.

I did not see it in a theater the way Tarantino would have wanted it but I enjoyed the movie.
Tarantino is not a fan of the Hollywood digital camera trend at all.
