Definitely more detail. Tons of clarity.

I’ll need to get used to this sound to see if it’s for me. I miss the warmth of the tube sound I’m used to.

Maybe a tube DAC would get me back to that sound.
So what happened with the hum? Was it ground loop problem? Glad that Ivan was able to help. I’m not surprised about the greater increase in detail. Remember I swapped my MC 2300 pre for the Momentum as well, it was like lifting a fog from the front of the loudspeakers. I am a bit surprised about the tube warmth comment……this is what I found with mine, on recordings that are subpar or generally sound lousy, the Momentum HD will not ADD anything to smooth it over. I noticed this almost immediately. Then, compare with a nice recording from MOFI or Analogue Productions and it was almost a revelation. It was so much better it wasn’t even funny. I would spend some time doing some comparisons like this. I’m much more of a “true to source” listener….if that’s what it sounds like than so be it. Right now I’m listening to a Kevin Gray mastered Audio Fidelity SACD….Billy Joel’s Streelife Serenade….all the detail in the world along with that warmer analogue sound. Try different recordings and report back!
